Welcome to the 2023 Galloway National Park Association Calendar!

We believe that Scotland’s third National Park should be here in Galloway, where the mountains meet the sea. And this calendar celebrates those beautiful coastal landscapes.

The Galloway National Park Association (GNPA) was formed in 2017 by a group of individuals who recognised the cultural and natural heritage of the area and its potential to attract visitors and investment. We felt that the international recognition National Park status brings would help to stimulate the local economy as well as putting the quality of the environment at the forefront of decision making, led by local representation.

The GNPA used nationally recognised criteria to define a potential area and set about consulting on this locally through a series of over 100 meetings with communities and interested parties, a conference and a survey. Local authority support has been solid from the start and our survey met with a favourable response among over 80% of its respondents.

GNPA is indebted to all those photographers who submitted images for our 2023 calendar, to the team who sifted through the images to choose the final selection, to the local outlets who have helped distribute the calendar and especially to the photographers below whose superb images where chosen to help us put Galloway on the map:
